Congrats! You’re engaged! There’s probably been one thing on your mind long before you even got a ring on your finger – the dress!
Your wedding dress is a big part of your wedding day. It’s obviously a day of love and celebration, but your gown will play a big part. That’s why when you are starting to search for your dress it’s important to get the most out of your bridal appointment. We have some tips for our Runaway Brides when it comes to your bridal appointment.
Your research. If you really love the style of a particular designer(s) there is no point showing up at a bridal appointment to find they don’t stock the designer of your choice. Research stockists of dresses you want to try on and ring ahead to make sure they still have some samples available.
Wear tan. Think about it, you are showing up to try on white dresses, maybe ivory, but either way they’re a very light colour, and stains will show. Don’t put a dampener on your bridal appointment by ruining a perfectly good dress with a bit of Bondi Sands!
Wear good underwear. You’re going to more than likely want to be sewn into your dress. Achieve this look by purchasing a good “sucky-in” knickers and a strapless bra that will hold everything in place!
Bring half the town with you to your bridal appointment. Three should be the maximum of people you bring. Too many opinions can overwhelm you and lead you to decide on a dress that you may not actually want. The fewer the better. It’s your wedding dress, you should have the final say on whether it’s for you or not.
Be open-minded. You may walk into your bridal appointment thinking you want a mermaid style with lots of beading, but the plain dress with lace sleeves in the corner of the shop might be the one for you. Be willing to try on a few different styles.
Bring shoes in a height you are comfortable with. We at Runaway Bride provide our brides with numerous styles and heights so they get an idea of what to expect on the big day!
